HEALTHY HARBOURS
Yesterday we went on a trip to learn about the Kenepuru Stream down the old road, One thing I found interesting was that, when the adults are pregnant they swim to Tonga and breed their babies there, then once they have hatched, the babies swim all the way back to New Zealand and the cycle just keeps going.
Things I have Learnt:
- Banded Kokopu are endangered and rare
- How yuck and healthy the Kenepuru Stream is
- You have to put your nets out earlier because some of the animals come out at night, we caught a short fin eel and 5 banded kokopu
- The clarity of the water was quite clean
- The temperature was 3.90
